Kolomenskoye Manor
Description of the tour:
"Moscow is used to being proud of its architectural masterpieces. The walls and towers of the Kremlin, cathedrals, bridges - stone and metal, structures built for centuries.
And there is little left of the ""Wooden Moscow"", too short-lived material is wood, too many fires and reconstructions have fallen to the city."
"But a few centuries ago Moscow could boast of wooden royal palaces! The Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich in Kolomenskoye was called the "eighth wonder of the world"
Kolomenskoye, despite the titles of the museum-reserve and the former royal residence, does not look like anything else. Different eras and styles and picturesque ""informal"" landscape evoke associations with a bright, colorful, beautiful patchwork quilt - the decoration of the Russian upper room."
"You can admire the monuments of Kolomenskoye in any season and in any weather, he goes and snowy winter, and golden autumn, and sunny and cloudy days. The excursion, a similar walk through the pages of a Russian fairy tale, will be interesting to everyone - from schoolchildren to pensioners.
The tour route will pass through the main attractions of the former royal residence. Tourists will see both fully preserved buildings and the foundations of the destroyed ones."
In our program:
- Three temples are completely different, built at different times and in different styles. Among them is the famous tent church of the Ascension of the Lord, the "business card" of Kolomenskoye, one of the very, very few preserved tent churches in Moscow. Built on a high steep bank of the river, it amazes the imagination with its size and proportions. In addition, the Ascension Cathedral offers a magnificent panorama of the river and the south-eastern part of the city.
- The Spassky and Front Gates are examples of pre-Petrine Moscow architecture that make you lose a sense of reality for a moment, feel a different time.
- The foundations of the yards - Fodder and Grain, the memory of a unique for that time, an exemplary farm.
- The Vodovzvodnaya tower is one of the oldest structures of the water supply system, combining both engineering and architectural functions and advantages: the tower is made in the form of a gate, the gate served for passage to the Voznesensky Garden and the village of Dyakovo through the legendary Golos ravine, about which the most incredible mystical rumors and stories circulated in Moscow.
- The house of Emperor Peter I, originally built near Arkhangelsk at the mouth of the Severnaya Dvina River, is the first of Kolomenskoye's architectural exhibits transported from different parts of Russia. Besides him, there are other monuments of wooden architecture from the Arkhangelsk region, Yakutia, Karelia in the exposition.
