The State Hermitage Museum is one of the largest in the world and an absolute must-see for any visitor to St. Petersburg. The museum's collection has more than three million artifacts,
works of art and monuments of world culture of different times and nations.The main part of Hermitage Museum located in several buildings in the city center, near the Neva River. The main museum complex consists of six buildings, which are located next to the Palace Square (The Winer Palace, Small Hermitage, Old Hermitage, New Hermitage, the Hermitage theater and General Staff).
During the Hermitage tour you will see the interior and collections which are located in the 5 buildings on Neva River and Millionnaya street (The Winter Palace, Small Hermitage, Old
Hermitage and New Hermitage). The main museum building is the Winter Palace. The exhibition placed in the palace includes grand halls and chambers, collections of the antiquities of Eurasia and the East, as well as collections of European and Eastern paintings, sculptures and decorative art works.
The Hermitage has Treasure Gallery- a museum inside the museum, which houses a valuable object that belonged to the imperial family. There are two parts of Treasure Gallery – Gold room with Scythian and Greek gold and Diamond Chamber with collection of diplomatic gifts, ancient artifacts, and purchases from the Russian monarchs from famous jewelry makers such as Carl Faberge.
